Fact: there are some places you can’t go with a motorbike. I’m not only talking about the likes of the game parks and the last 65km to Sossusvlei, but also those places you determine for yourself that the risk (of ambition exceeding ability) vs. the potential reward isn’t justified. For those places, and especially when riding solo, instead of being a hero and risk ending your bike trip, you are better off parking up the bike and getting in a 4×4. I did just that for a trip around Namibia in October 2018, in anticipation of coming back and doing another trip on the 1200 bike in April 2019.
